Apart from his busy schedule of performances and rehearsals, Indra Hughes is also a much admired writer, broadcaster, speaker, adjudicator and examiner. He is frequently in demand for pre-concert talks, programme notes, lectures, seminars, examining and competition adjudications. In particular, his contributions to Radio New Zealand's Concert FM, both as presenter and performer, have brought his incredibly wide musical knowledge and communication skills to a national audience.
Please click on the Bach Studies link in the menu at the left to read about Indra's work in connection with JS Bach and in particular his doctoral thesis on The Art of Fugue.
Indra's arrangement of David Evans' Be still, for the presence of the Lord, originally written for Musica Sacra, has been published by Novello (More than Hymns 2) and recorded by the Choir of Wells Cathedral (Lammas LAMM149): it has been performed, recorded and broadcast in churches and cathedrals around the world.
Indra Hughes has written and presented many radio programmes for Concert FM. These have included a number of Composer of the Week talks, as well as his own 10-part series, Music Matters. A number of these programmes have concentrated on the music of J S Bach and his family.
